Welcome to Onix: Dr. Jill Carnahan
Functional medicine pioneer, Loyola-trained physician, and cancer survivor. Dr. Carnahan brings a perspective to chronic disease that no textbook can teach.

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Jill Carnahan to Onix.
Dr. Jill Carnahan, MD is a Loyola University-trained physician, a functional medicine pioneer, and one of the most compelling voices in the movement to find the root cause of chronic illness, a mission born as much from her own survival as from her science.
That personal reckoning changed everything. As a survivor of breast cancer, Crohn’s disease, and toxic mold illness, she brings a perspective to complex chronic disease that no textbook can teach. She earned her medical degree from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine, completed her residency at the University of Illinois in Family Medicine, and became dually board certified in both Family Medicine and Integrative Holistic Medicine.
She founded the Methodist Center for Integrative Medicine in 2009, then launched Flatiron Functional Medicine in Boulder, Colorado, now one of the most sought-after functional medicine practices in the country. She co-authored the Personalized and Precision Integrative Cardiovascular Medicine textbook and released her book Unexpected: Finding Resilience through Functional Medicine, Science, and Faith. She has been featured in People, Forbes, Shape, and on NBC News.
Most doctors are trained to manage disease, not resolve it. Functional medicine asks a different question: why is this happening in the first place? Onix lets me bring that root-cause thinking directly to people who’ve been searching for answers for years, and finally give them a real path forward.
