Welcome to Onix: Dr. Jeffrey Bland
Biochemist, nutritional medicine pioneer, and the father of functional medicine. The man who changed how the world thinks about chronic disease.

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Jeffrey Bland to Onix.
Dr. Jeffrey Bland is a biochemist, nutritional medicine pioneer, and the father of functional medicine: the man who first articulated that chronic disease could be understood and reversed by addressing its root causes rather than managing its symptoms.
That idea became a movement. He began his career as a Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Puget Sound, contributed to the founding of Bastyr University, and in the early 1980s was hand-selected by two-time Nobel Laureate Dr. Linus Pauling to serve as Director of Nutritional Research at the Linus Pauling Institute of Science and Medicine. In 1991 he co-founded the Institute for Functional Medicine, which has since trained hundreds of thousands of healthcare practitioners across more than 50 countries.
He has authored over 120 peer-reviewed research publications and multiple bestselling books, traveled more than six million miles teaching clinicians worldwide, and founded the Personalized Lifestyle Medicine Institute and Big Bold Health, where he now leads pioneering research into immuno-rejuvenation and the role of food as medicine.
Medicine spent the 20th century learning how to fight disease. The 21st century is about learning how to create health. That shift requires personalizing everything, from nutrition to environment to how we think about the immune system. Onix gives me the platform to bring that vision directly to the people who need it most.
