Welcome to Onix: Dr. Jordan Metzl
Renowned sports medicine physician, bestselling author, and 15-time Ironman finisher. The doctor who prescribes exercise as medicine.

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Jordan Metzl to Onix.
Dr. Metzl is a renowned sports medicine physician, bestselling author, and lifelong athlete whose career has been driven by a single conviction: that movement is the most powerful medicine we have, and that the biggest challenge is getting people to actually do it.
He earned his MD from the University of Missouri, completed his residency at Tufts Medical Center, and trained in sports medicine fellowships at both Vanderbilt University and Harvard Medical School. For more than 25 years he has practiced at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, the top-ranked orthopedic hospital in the country, where he has treated over 35,000 patients, from weekend runners to professional and Olympic-level athletes. He is the bestselling author of six books, including The Exercise Cure, Dr. Jordan Metzl’s Running Strong, and his latest, Push: Unlock the Science of Fitness Motivation to Embrace Health and Longevity. He has published articles in The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Atlantic, and regularly appears on national television, radio, and podcasts discussing preventive health and movement. He created the Ironstrength Workout, a free functional fitness program performed by more than 9 million athletes worldwide and featured in the New York Times, and founded the first physician-led online fitness community, The IronStrength Fitness Community, with over 50,000 members. A 40-time marathon runner and 15-time Ironman finisher, he doesn’t just prescribe the medicine of movement, he takes it himself every day.
We have the most effective drug in the world for preventing disease, improving mental health, and extending life. It’s free, it’s available to everyone, and it has no side effects. The problem has never been the science, we know exercise works. The problem is motivation. Once I understood that the real barrier is in the brain, not the body, it changed how I treat every patient. Onix lets me bring that understanding directly to people, not as a prescription, but as a push, and allows me to educate and inspire thousands of people all over the world.
