At NBJ Summit 2026, the Nutrition Business Journal’s annual gathering of the industry, Ashley Koff, RD and Onix CEO David Bennahum took the stage to talk about what the word means once it has to survive contact with a real person and a real question.
The side-by-side

On stage, she and David put Onix’s answers next to generic AI’s, for the same questions, in front of an audience that makes its living on nutrition advice. The difference is not that the generic answer is wrong. It is that the generic answer is for the average patient, and nobody in the room is the average patient. Ashley’s onix answers the way Ashley does: it asks about the person first, then reasons from twenty-five years of clinical practice that never appeared in a search index.
